Durga Stalin, the wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, offered a golden crown to Guruvayurappan, the presiding deity of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple, on August 10, 2023. The crown is made of 32 sovereigns of gold and weighs about 236 grams. It is estimated to be worth over ₹ 14 lakhs.

Durga Stalin had visited the Guruvayur temple many times before and had expressed her desire to offer a crown to the deity. The measurements for the crown were taken in advance and the jewelry was made by a team of artisans in Chennai.

In addition to the crown, Durga Stalin also donated a machine to grind sandalwood into a paste for the temple. The machine is worth over ₹2 lakh.

Durga Stalin’s donation was received with great appreciation by the temple authorities and devotees. They thanked her for her gesture and said that it would be a great blessing for the temple and its devotees.
