Union Minister Jairam Ramesh’s support to Kerala Government in the implementation of Rural projects

The Ministry of Rural Development has assured full co- operation to Kerala Government in the implementation of rural employment, road connectivity and housing schemes in the state. his assurance was given by Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh to the Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who called on him at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Chandy led delegation also made a request to include additional activities such as dairy farming, livelihood, houses, toilets etc. in the ambit of works permissible under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. The Kerala Chief Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation including State Rural Development Minister KC Joseph, Agriculture Minister KP Mohan, Minister of Ports K Babu and Director of Janashree Mission MM Hassan.
The Chief Minister has asked the Union Ministry to fast track the financial aid for the construction of rural roads in Kerala sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
